If I have to deal with this scenario in Houston, it’s probably the end of the world, and blowing snow off my car is the least of my worries.

Brushing snow isn’t the problem. It’s all the scraping that sucks.

I can confirm that it has snowed in Houston. I was there when it happened.

When I was in San Antonio, about 30 years ago, we got around an inch of snow.
The world shut down
It was hilarious

I’ve only been able to do that a few times. Most snow here in the Northeast is too heavy, wet and sticky for a leafblower.

I believe it. One time in Houston, there was icicles hanging off the edges of stuff outside...... school canceled, people calling into work, city pretty much shut down.

sleet, not snow technically, and yes everyone did panic and died. I remember those times and it was just frozen rain at 37 degrees out. Little ice balls bouncing off shit.

Since moving to Baton Rouge, I’ve seen it snow here twice. Both times the entire city shut down. The first time I had already dropped the kids off at school and was almost to the office when they called to let me know the school was going to close and I needed to come get my kids. What!?!

Then again I’m not certain if Denver will get any snow this year
This year confuses and infuriates me

I fully understand that us Northerners cannot handle the heat and humidity as well as Southerners, but it still never ceases to amuse me to see millions of people lose their fucking minds like it’s the god damn apocalypse over the lightest of snow dustings.

The problem is that getting the loose stuff off is the easy part. Even with just a brush, you can easily push a couple feet of snow off the car without much issue. The hard part is getting the layer of ice off underneath the snow. This is why a morning where it snows is often times quicker to clean the car off than most other days in the winter because it often prevents ice from forming on the car. Depends on the conditions though, I have had a 1 foot thick chunk of ice covering my car and connected to the snow plow pile to the side of the car. I just waited like 3 or 4 days before I attempted to dig it out at that point.

That’s the attitude the general population of Virginia takes.
I’ve also got a customer who is blind in one eye after a hunk of ice broke off the roof of the vehicle in front of him at 50mph and came through his windshield.
I’m glad I grew up in New England, as I’m able to handle snow (driveway/shoveling roof/driving in snow, etc), but it makes my blood boil when half the cars on the road have at least a slab of snow on the roof. Snow removal here tends to consist of “aww hell, it’ll melt eventually”.
The only bonus is when someone comes to a stop and the entire roof-sized snowpack comes sliding down onto the windshield.

Meh. It’s not the snow that’s the problem; it’s the ice on the overpasses and bridges.

I was there when it was real snow. We have pics of me building my first snowman outside our apartment. I’m sure everyone panicked, but not everyone died! I’m still around to tell the tale! Come to think of it, so are you! We’re survivors!

We made a “sleet”man too from the stuff that gathered on the cars and also had a “sleet” ball fight :] T’was simply heavy sleet doe at least in the Heights.
I did actually die, but zombie life was its quirks. One doesn’t notice the smell after a while. Plus, our own holiday today! Z-life!

It does work, and contrary to some comments, it will blow some ice off as well, but it’s not going to touch the really thick ice or really wet snow, but the light fluffy snow, it works great. And you can clear your walks when you’re done as well. The blower works great for the 2" and less light snows.

But you know what works the best? A garage. Best way to keep snow off your car in the winter. I highly recommend one.

It’s pretty. I like Aspen more, though. More celebrities than you can handle.
I once went to shake hands with Jimmy Buffet there (his wife told me to do it) and had to apologize to another guy chatting with him for interrupting their conversation (there was a lull in the chat, so a women in a red dress, who was with the other guy, told us to go ahead and jump in real quick).
The other guy was Michael Douglas. The lady with him was Catherine Zeta-Jones (before she got super famous).
Fun place.

I haven’t gone skiing in 15 years either (the Aspen trip was in December 1998). I need to go back, though. Staying in Aspen is expensive as all hell, and we couldn’t have gone if it weren’t for my buddy’s dad owning a condo there.

We had pine trees in the backyard, magnolia trees in the front yard. The flowers are pretty, but the trees shed like crazy in the fall. EVERY weekend starting in October involved raking and yard work.

Yeah $800/night is on the cheap side. We tend to hit the resort towns in the spring, just before mud season. Suites are generally about $200/night then :)
I think I have a friend with a cabin near Vail; I should hit him up.

Hah! What year?
One of the best snow/sleetball fights I ever had was during a snow-free winter. Some guy came from somewhere up north pulling a trailer loaded with a car and a couple of feet of snow. It didn’t take long before all the kids took it upon themselves to clean off the trailer. A snowball fight while wearing shorts and a t-shirt is something few southerners get to experience.

A lot of dealerships around he do that when there’s just a light dusting, so it’s not worth to to brush off each car. Plus it lowers the risk of scratching a brand new vehicle
